Lets talk about Micro-needling

Why needle?

Microneedling is one of my favourite treatments to have myself. It uses fine sterilised needles to prick the skin creating small micro channels.

These microscopic punctures cause the body to react and boost collagen, creating smoother, firmer skin.

In addition serums can be added which then penetrate into the skin providing hydration, brightening and plumping.

Isn’t that what we all want?

Who is it suitable for?

The good news is - everyone with very few exceptions.

It can help freshen skin, reduce open pores, reduce the appearance of scars, brighten dark spots as well as the added bonus of reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Is it painful?

It is not a pain-free procedure. After all needles are involved. The needling part is mild discomfort and immediately afterwards feels hot. That’s when the mask goes on and cools everything down. Everyone's favourite part.

It is like many aesthetic or beauty treatments - worth it. No one doesn’t come back for more, which I think says it all.

Is deeper better?

Believe it or not no.

I see lots of social media posts with people having needling and bloody faces. You can actually needle too deep. Especially when using alongside some serums. Too deep can miss the area needing treatment.

It is also more painful.

Different areas require different depths.

The depth should be tailored to your needs, not one depth fits all.

Will one session work?

The good news is - yes.

However, although your skin texture will be improved and a nice confidence boost, best results are seen after 3 sessions, 1 month apart.

Did you know you can damage the skin and thicken it by having too many sessions?

On the face you should only have 6 sessions in a 12 month period to avoid the skin from thickening.

What will my face look like after microneedling?

You will have a glow and some pinkness for the rest of the day. A bit like a mild sunburn. The next day this should be settling and in many people the pinkness has gone but can take a couple of days to fully settle.

How much does it cost?

Prices can be very varied but make sure you go to a reputable clinician. Needling devices need to be sterile and CE marked. There have been documentations of people contracting HIV through microneedling devices so pick your practitioner carefully.

My prices start from £140 per session with packages available for multiple treatments.

Till next time xx
